Vivian Stanshall: English As Tuppence

This was the first big project where I worked with the legendary Neil Innes. We celebrated the incorrigible, adored, unpredictable, unfathomable absurdist Vivian Stanshall - Neil's creative partner in The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band and brains behind the intricate world of Rawlinson End.

Neil and I interviewed Ade Edmondson, Rod Slater and Rick Wakeman, and trawled the BBC Archive to bring to life the collision of art, humour, music and language that permeated Vivian's life and work.

Neil and Adrian also performed some Bonzo classics for the programme which was one of the best days I have ever spent in a studio.
